What is the difference between an admin passcode and a lock passcode?

When managing your smart lock, it’s important to understand the differences between the admin passcode and the lock passcode. Here’s a breakdown of the key differences:

Passcode Admin Passcode Lock Passcode
Creation The admin passcode is automatically generated the first time you set up your lock. If you choose to change it later, the new passcode must be created manually, as there will be no further auto-generation. You can create a lock passcode after setting up your lock.
Number of Passcodes There is only one admin passcode. You can create more than one lock passcode and delete them when needed.
Usage The admin passcode can be used to unlock the lock, but its primary function is to set up and manage advanced features, such as the DuoSync function and unpairing devices. Unlike the admin passcode, the lock passcode is intended for everyday access and can be shared with family members or guests. You can set different validity types for your lock passcodes, such as permanent, temporary, or more.

Since both the admin passcode and the lock passcode can be used to unlock the lock, it is strongly recommended that you do not use the same passcode for both. This practice helps to keep your admin functions secure and separate from general access, enhancing overall security.
